Billionaire Tony Elumelu offer over $5 million to 1,000 other entrepreneurs through his foundation

Tony Elumelu, a cornerstone of African entrepreneurship, once again demonstrates his commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs across the continent. Through the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), the Nigerian businessman has recently allocated over $5 million in seed capital to more than 1,000 African entrepreneurs from the continent’s 54 countries.

This initiative, enthusiastically announced by Elumelu on LinkedIn, coincides with the celebration of his birthday, underscoring his continued dedication to entrepreneurial development in Africa. Each beneficiary receives a non-refundable startup capital of $5,000, a critical investment to jumpstart their business activities.

This generous gesture is in line with the vision Elumelu shared with his wife, Awele, a decade ago. Together, they embarked on a journey to democratize opportunities and catalyze transformative change across the continent. This new wave of financial support reinforces Elumelu’s long-standing commitment to African entrepreneurship, a mission that began with the launch of TEF in 2015.

Since then, TEF has not only provided financial support but also delivered comprehensive training, personalized mentoring, and access to valuable networks for its beneficiaries. The foundation’s digital training platform has already reached over 1.5 million young Africans, equipping them with the skills needed to succeed in an increasingly competitive business environment.

By surpassing initial expectations, Elumelu has empowered over 18,000 young entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds and sectors across the continent. His ambitious vision to support 10,000 entrepreneurs over a decade has been greatly exceeded, underscoring the significant impact of TEF in transforming the African entrepreneurial landscape.
