A new tragedy has struck the northern region of Nigeria, as military sources report a deadly ambush carried out by militants from the Boko Haram faction, supported by the Islamic State, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jama’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād in Borno State. The attack occurred along the Fulka to Bama route, causing an as yet unconfirmed number of casualties among Nigerian soldiers.
These soldiers fell victim to improvised explosive devices during the ambush, once again highlighting the constant threat posed by these devastating tactics employed by terrorist groups. The situation remains critical, with multiple sources indicating that the road from Fulka to Bama is now blocked due to the incident, exacerbating the logistical challenges faced by military authorities in the region.
In addition to military losses, civilians, including a pregnant woman, were also tragically affected by this attack. Their vehicles ran over the improvised explosive devices laid by the terrorists, resulting in human losses among the innocent civilians traveling this route. The death of a pregnant woman, accompanied by a miraculously surviving young child, underscores the magnitude of the tragedy indiscriminately affecting the civilian population.
