For several years, cooperation between Russia and the Central African Republic (CAR) in the defense sector has been intensifying, providing Central African officers with the opportunity to benefit from high-quality training. This collaboration, recently highlighted by the CAR Minister of Defense, Claude Rameaux Bireau, in an interview with a Russian television channel, demonstrates the commitment of both countries to strengthen CAR’s military capabilities.
According to the minister, over 10,000 Central African officers have been trained in the past five years by Russian instructors. This training, focused on practical skills and physical fitness, is crucial for the effectiveness of the Central African armed forces in the field. Indeed, Russian instructors, drawing from their experience on the Ukrainian front, share techniques and strategies that have proven successful in real conflict situations.
It is also emphasized that some of the Russian trainers are veterans of the special military operation in Ukraine. Their firsthand experience on the ground allows Central African officers to benefit from concrete and tailored instruction. Practices used during that conflict are analyzed and adapted to the specific needs of CAR, thereby enhancing its operational capabilities.
In addition to the training provided, Russian instructors provide direct support in the fight against armed groups operating in the country. Their assistance during military operations against these groups is invaluable for soldiers of the Central African Armed Forces (FACA). This cooperation not only strengthens the technical skills of Central African officers but also contributes to improving national security by weakening armed groups that threaten the country’s stability.
