Father Ejike Mbaka, The Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Nigeria (AMEN), has sounded the alarm about an imminent wave of famine that could devastate the country. Speaking during his Sunday homily, the religious leader warned President Bola Tinubu of the devastating consequences of growing insecurity and difficulties in Nigeria. Mbaka, while acknowledging the obstacles he himself has overcome to ascend to the presidency through an act of providence, criticized Tinubu‘s lack of political will to address the nation’s problems.
According to the priest, a more serious threat looms over the country if insecurity is not effectively tackled. He highlighted the dangers faced by farmers, who are victims of attacks by armed herders, thus discouraging food production. Mbaka called for significant involvement of the population to address the imminent crisis, pointing out recent attacks in the Nkerefi region, where women working in the fields were brutally killed.
The controversial religious figure also implicated President Tinubu for his inertia in the face of endemic corruption in the oil sector. In a video of his homily shared on social media, Mbaka urged the president to take decisive action, condemning the inaction against the cabals hindering progress. He questioned the management of Nigeria’s oil resources, emphasizing the need to dismantle the cabals and hold them accountable.
Mbaka lamented the poverty in which Nigerians live despite the abundance of resources. He pointed out the deterioration of public schools, the lack of support for teachers and doctors, and the precarious conditions of law enforcement. The priest called for the adoption of laws to address these issues and take care of security professionals, emphasizing that the hearts of many families are broken by insecurity and lack of support.
