A recent study conducted by researchers at Sichuan University in Chengdu, China, reveals that regular tea consumption may not only slow down biological aging processes but also contribute to a longer, healthier life.

The analysis of data from nearly 14,000 participants from the UK and China has highlighted the significant impact of three cups of tea per day on various health indicators, such as blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and body fat percentage. These indicators are crucial for assessing an individual’s biological age, which can differ from their chronological age depending on their health condition.

The findings are telling: tea enthusiasts exhibit a noticeable slowdown in biological aging, accompanied by a reduction in insomnia and anxiety symptoms. Researchers emphasize that the consumption of about three cups of tea daily, equivalent to six to eight grams of tea leaves, offers the most pronounced anti-aging benefits.

Flavonoids, key components of tea leaves, are largely credited with these beneficial effects. These substances, found in many plants, are known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Previous animal research had already suggested the potential of flavonoids to extend life, a hypothesis this study seems to confirm in humans.

Interestingly, this study found no significant difference between tea drinkers in the UK and China, despite cultural differences in tea preferences and preparation methods. This universality underscores the importance of tea as a health-beneficial element, regardless of geographical boundaries.
