Wizkid takes aim at Davido and Don Jazzy

The Afrobeat music scene has been thrown into turmoil since renowned artist Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid, sparked a storm on the microblogging site X.com. In an incendiary tweet, Wizkid targeted two iconic figures in the Nigerian music industry: Davido and Mavin Records boss Michael Ajereh, better known as Don Jazzy.

The tweet in question propelled Wizkid to the top of trends on X, quickly ranking fourth among the most discussed topics in Nigeria. In his exchanges with his supporters, Wizkid pulled no punches. He labeled Don Jazzy an “influencer,” while openly mocking Davido for a viral video showing him in tears, kneeling before a person assumed to be a female associate.

This is not the first time Wizkid has courted controversy on social media. His early morning tweet, stating “Every day, I have things to say but my mouth is of no use,” ignited the web and sparked a series of passionate reactions. His scathing comments fueled a heated debate, highlighting underlying tensions within the Nigerian music industry.

Davido’s viral video, in which he is seen in tears, has sparked wild speculation about the nature of his distress. While some suggest he was pleading with his wife Chioma for forgiveness for wrongdoing, others have speculated that he was pleading with American model Bonita Maria for unknown reasons.

However, the real twist came when the spotlight shifted to Don Jazzy. In response to a critical comment from a fan about Wizkid’s actions, he didn’t hesitate to insinuate that the Mavin Records boss was nothing more than an “influencer,” adding a new dimension to the already intense quarrel.

This altercation between Wizkid, Davido, and Don Jazzy echoes the artist’s previous confrontations with other public figures. In 2016, he had already targeted the renowned blogger Linda Ikeji, questioning her claims about his residence in Lekki. This penchant for provocation and challenging others has earned Wizkid a reputation as a straight talker within the music industry.
