Eddy Kenzo: My name is Musuuza Edrisa aka Eddy Kenzo, am among the most widely beloved entertainers and profoundly influential artistes around East Africa and was born in Masaka (Uganda).

At 7yrs i begun hustling on my own as a street kid, i stayed on streets for 13yrs. During those 13yrs, i got a Samaritan who helped me for one year at Kazo Primary (Nyabushozi, Mbarara District), due to some problems the Samaritan faced i was not able to proceed with studies. I went back to Masaka as a street kid where i then came to Kampala Nakivubo streets selling soda and water in Old taxi park and Nakivubo stadium during matches and other events, later alone joined Jjogo Yang under16 SC Villa as a footballer and Villa referred me to Lubiri S S for further studies as a junior footballer on bursary, i was always an active member of the school’s soccer team.

After high school, KENZO as my new stage name and a passion for making music with the God-given talent, i got into the studio to hone his craft in 2007. I continued to develop both as a Singer and Songwriter by working with some of Uganda’s biggest Music personalities in the industry. Over the next few years my talent as a Singer, Songwriter and performer became evident after my breakthrough in 2008.

We heard about you by watching a video on Youtube. It was about some children dancing on one of your single : Sitya Loss. The video was called GHETTO KIDS DANCE COMPETITION. Was you informed when this initiative was taken?

I had no idea about the video clips of these kids until when i recieved a call from a friend telling me about the ghetto boys dancing sitya loss video, i immediately checked on youtube and was so suprised to see these kids. I had to look for them and it took me about two weeks to find them in katwe a suburb of kampala city.

What is Sitya Loss about?

Sitya loss is all about being happy no matter the situation, rich or poor, young or old, life still goes on as the video shows it.

We can see that your music sounds like Ghanian or maybe Nigerian music. Do people in Uganda usually sing like west African singers?

Eddy Kenzo : We are all Africans and we all have the same drum beat because we all do AfroBeat, so we all do the same music just that we change some instruments depending on the culture.

Have you heard about other African singers? I mean from English and French speaking country

Eddy Kenzo: I love Koffi olomide, Awilo Longomba, Wemba all from congo because they used to make me dance wen i was still young and till now i can’t get enough of their music.

Have you planned to do concerts outside of Uganda, maybe in west Africa

Eddy Kenzo: It’s in the pipe line just watch the space.

LNT: Here we really like your work, and hope our readers will like too, any future project? Featuring with… other africans singers, such as wizkid (Nigeria) or Dibi Dobo (Bénin)

Eddy Kenzo : first of all thanks for you people of Benin and the team of LNT i love you guys. A lot is coming soon featuring some artists and i will let u know when all is done and when the music is available in store.

Thanks Eddy, it was really kind of you taking your time to answer our questions. Good luck for your carreer
