Fr. Edeh. advancing the strength of catholic priests in Nigeria

Many great philosophers in the past developed different schools of thought as a channel of impacting on the younger generation what they consider as good values. We have such philosophers as Aristotle, Socrates, Thomas Aquinas, to mention but a few. These philosophers strongly believed that the younger generation will live a glorious and fulfilled life.

In the recent times, many great thinkers only think about the well being of their respective families and relatives, not minding whatever that befalls their neighbors, let alone setting up a school of thought to correct the vices menacing the contemporary society. The question of character moulding is completely out of place, sound morals and values are now things of the past, the society is becoming materialistic, where parents no longer ask questions on how their children make money, rather, urges their child to go after wealth through whatever means.

It is against this background that God in His mercy raised His humble servant, Fr. Emmanuel Edeh and endowed him with the necessary wisdom to direct His people back to Him. God made Fr. Edeh to pass through great sufferings and crucibles in order to prepare him to direct people and nations on the right course of life that will enable them live in peace and harmony at all times.

Fr. Edeh- an American trained educationist and a moderating instrument in the hand of God has today to his credit and to the glory of God the establishment of one of the most flourishing congregation of religious priests in Nigeria within the West African sub-region. A unique congregation known as Fathers of Jesus the Saviour founded in 1991. The priests of this congregation are known for simplicity and charity, special caring for the sick and the suffering people of God in all ramifications, following the footsteps of their founder, who teaches them that the keys to success are humility, charity, hardworking and determination.

The Congregation of the Fathers of Jesus the Saviour is one of such Congregation of priests that is not in a haste to produce more members, because of its founder’s belief in producing qualitative priests for Christ who will aid in the continuity of the salvific mission of Christ on earth through which peace will come to reign in the society. There is always meticulous selection of postulatants, and careful formation of the prospective priests to ensure that they are of sound morals.

On the 6th day of July, 2014 it pleased God to add six new priests to the Congregation of the Fathers of Jesus the Saviour, bringing their number in the register to twenty five. It is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our sight. All those who graced the occasion really acknowledged that it was wonderful because it was the ordination that has the highest number of priests ordained at a time. The crowd that came to witness these epoch making ordination was great, as families, relatives, friends and well wishers of the newly ordained priests trooped into the National Pilgrimage Centre Elele.

The ordination was officiated by the Bishop of Enugu diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Callistus Onaga, who urged the newly ordained priests to totally surrender themselves to God and allow God to do with them as it pleases him, which is coincidental with the prayer Jesus I love You, all I have is Thine, Yours I am and Yours I want to be, do with me whatever You will. composed by their founder, Fr. Emmanuel Edeh and also urged them to emulate the simple nature and virtues of their founder.

The Superior General of the Congregation, Rev. Fr. Paul Obi Mario expressed his great joy first to God for such a great day and the miracle of making the dreams of the newly ordained priests come true, he thanked the Bishop for honoring their invitation and their founder for accepting the will of God upon his life to pass through crucibles in order to do God’s will.

The Founder of the Congregation, Rev. Fr. Prof. Emmanuel Edeh whose joy knew no bounds thanked God and said that “God is the founder of the Congregation,” he is only an instrument in the hand of God doing what God directs him to do. He selflessly prayed God to give to all his priests the double portion of his anointing. He also thanked the Bishop, whom he described as a great instrument in the formation of the Saviourite priests, and who is always there for the Congregation.

The newly ordained priests include: Rev. Frs. Patrick Mary Idah , Thaddeus Mama, Benjamin Eneje, Oliver-Mary Ugwu, Isaac Nginga and Joseph Mbave. These priests are expected to join suit in spreading the gospel of Christ to the far ends of the earth as those who are there before them, many of who are working and studying in different parts of the globe, especially in Europe.

Today, the Congregation of the Fathers of Jesus the Saviour (Saviourite Priests) is a priestly model or role model that every Christian family will like to identify with, because of the spiritual blessing, protection and benefits attached with them and the great things God is doing through them.
